PvP and Karma System
PvP in Laurum Online
In *Laurum Online*, players can engage in two types of PvP: Open PvP and Arena PvP. Open PvP occurs on designated PvP servers, while Arena PvP takes place in specific arenas. In Open PvP, players incur negative karma for killing those with green names and positive karma for eliminating players with orange or red names.
Karma System
The Karma System is implemented to assess the morality of players in *Laurum Online*. All users start with 0 Karma, and their in-game username appears green. To alter Karma, players must participate in Player-vs-Player (PvP) combat within designated PvP areas on the world map.
Karma and Username Colors
Players who kill others see their Karma become negative (-), and their username changes from green to orange. Persistent killing further reduces Karma, and players with a high number of player kills (PKs) eventually have their username turn red. To increase Karma, players can perform heroic acts, such as killing a character with a red username, turning their Karma positive (+), and changing their username to blue.
Alternatively, players can use crafted karma potions to affect their Karma positively or negatively.
Karma Axe
In PvP areas marked by an icon featuring an axe with a skull face, players can choose how to engage. The axe represents the Karma Axe, and its appearance in the upper right-hand side of the screen indicates a PvP active area. Players can select the axe to determine their participation:
- The blue skull allows targeting only users with red usernames, ensuring neutral players (green names) are safe from PvP attacks. Party members are also immune to direct attacks but can still be affected by Karma changes.
- The red skull permits attacking any user, regardless of their username color. NPCs cannot be targeted. Party members are immune to direct attacks but can still experience Karma changes.
- The white skull prevents players from attacking anyone except monstrous creatures. However, this does not protect the user from attacks by other players.
Karma Titles
Players can earn specific titles based on the amount of positive or negative Karma they have developed. (See Titles)
